Principal’s welcome

Victoria Point State School is built on over 100 years of rich history. “Always Our Best” is at the core of what we aim to achieve with students, offering a broad range of academic, musical, cultural and sporting pursuits. Our students engage with social and emotional learning opportunities that enhance our curriculum programs to assist them in developing resilience and prepare for the path ahead.

We believe when there is a sustained commitment by all staff members to the processes of our Positive Behaviour for Learning approach, the expected outcomes will lead to respectful relationships and high achievement across the school community. Our relationships are underpinned by the ethos of being a safe, respectful and responsible learner.

Our endeavours are supported by a team of enthusiastic and dedicated teachers and support staff who display an eagerness to be part of the school community and improve their teaching practice. They are highly valued by the students and members of the school community. All teaching staff demonstrate an understanding of the importance of positive and caring relationships to successful learning, and work to build mutually respectful relationships.

Presently we are identifying our future needs and reimagining various aspects of our school, the learning programs and our vision and values. This gives rise to our aim to provide a modern learning environment that best meets the needs of our young people as they move towards the challenging, exciting and ever changing world of the future.

Our desire to connect with the community is driven by our will to achieve a culture that promotes learning. Our links with the community are evident in our strong partnership with our local state high school that supports the delivery of excellence programs in robotics, dance, film and television. School community links are extended further to support a variety of community events and celebrations within the Redlands area and have become part of our cultural heritage.

As we continue to reimagine ourselves as a learning community, we maintain a strong focus on the basics that contribute to a student’s potential for success. Our inclusive approach to student learning needs and respect of cultural diversity has proven to be cause for celebration as we strive for excellence. It is wonderful to be part of a learning community that aims to have each individual achieve their best whilst keeping an eye on the future and respectfully acknowledging over 100 years of tradition.

Yours faithfully
Bill Carey
